About the game

A modern Mahjong Solitaire game made for people who want clear rules, readable tiles, and room to think.

Mahjong Tide opens directly in the browser, with no download or account required. Its solo modes range from a quick board to an extended journey: Flow carries players through an endless current of compact layouts; Daily Art offers one shared puzzle and artwork each day; The Journey follows the 55 stations of the old Tokaido Road; and Free Play opens hundreds of layouts and unlimited new deals.

Every initial deal is generated from a genuine solution. A player can still choose a dead end, but Mahjong Tide never conceals it with a secret reshuffle: the game reports what happened and leaves hints and undo in the player’s hands.

Play solo, or invite friends to the multiplayer modes: Together lets you take turns clearing one shared board; Race gives everyone the same starting board to clear on their own, with the first to finish winning the round.

About the creator

Portrait of Sylvain GravejatPortrait

Sylvain Gravejat

Independent developer · France

Sylvain Gravejat is the independent developer behind Mahjong Tide. He created the game to reimagine Mahjong Solitaire as an elegant, modern browser experience: immediate to play, uncluttered, and built around classic art that is worth discovering rather than used as disposable decoration.

Watching my mom play Solitaire gave me the idea for Mahjong Tide.

I could see the appeal of a quiet, familiar game. But as a gamer, I kept wondering what else that experience could offer. What if clearing a board unlocked a beautiful work of art? What if each game took you a little further along a journey through Japan, with stories and history to discover along the way? And what if you could share that experience with other people?

That’s why I built Mahjong Tide: a Mahjong Solitaire game with more to discover, while keeping the simple pleasure of matching tiles at its heart.
